Need help getting HideTheAI working? Start with the steps below. If the problem continues, email us or open a public bug report.

Install HideTheAI

Download and unzip the HideTheAI extension.
Open chrome://extensions in Chrome.
Enable Developer mode.
Select Load unpacked and choose the unzipped extension folder.
Pin HideTheAI from Chrome's extensions menu.

Update or reload the extension

After replacing the extension files with a newer version, open chrome://extensions and select Reload on the HideTheAI card. Refresh any Google or supported media-site tabs that were already open.

Google searches are not changing

Open the HideTheAI toolbar popup and confirm a search mode is selected.
Use a supported Google domain listed in the extension permissions.
Explicit tabs such as Images, News, Videos, and Shopping are intentionally preserved.
Reload the extension and refresh the Google tab.

Blocked results are still visible

Confirm Enable search result hiding is on.
Check that the relevant filter category is enabled.
Add a domain under Custom domains when it is not part of a built-in category.
Google changes its result-page markup regularly, so newly changed layouts may require an extension update.

AI assets are still visible on a supported site

Confirm On supported asset sites: hide AI assets is on.
Refresh the page after changing the setting.
Some sites are filtered only when they expose a native non-AI control or a visible AI label.
